The 87th Annual OSCARS Highlights

What can I say about the Oscars? A welcoming voice narrates as an opulent, sparkling stage appears, decorated with golden men, when, from behind the curtains, a god appears: Neil Patrick Harris. In all seriousness, this was the first time I actually took the time to sit down and watch a movie awards show. Why, you may ask? I never really had interest in the personal lives and drama of actors. But I realize now that the oscars aren't just a claw-for-the-top race or an "in crowd only" event. The oscars started as a way to celebrate actors, actresses, and others when they give powerful, relatable performances. To celebrate the freedom they give up to be famous and the courage to chase an almost unattainable dream all the way to the stars. And that, ladies and gentleman, is why you should respect awards ceremonies like the Oscars.
After 87 Oscar award shows I'm wondering why we didn't just assign the host job to Harris for the next 50 some shows. His song, not only sung majestically, had me laughing far too hard. The graphics, I mean seriously, Harris could be the star to every movie ever (even the female roles). And then one of my absolute favorite female musical singers/actresses, Anna Kendrick, came out I nearly choked. Perfection could not get any more perfect. Or so I thought until Jack Black proved me wrong and jumped up on stage. Anna, please throw your shoe again. And wow way to wrap it up fabulously! Conclusion? I hope this song is on itunes because I need this is my life.

Everyone who was honored tonight deserves mention, even those who performed musical numbers, such as Adam Levine, Lady Gaga, and Tim Mcgraw, and especially those who were nominated. Everyone who makes it their life goal to entertain and give up their time such as J.K. Simmons who won best supporting actor [ I would have chose Mark Ruffalo. Totally biased because I don't want to make him angry (wink, wink)], Frances Hannon and Mark Couloer who won the oscar for hair and makeup styling, Feast winning best animated short, Big Hero 6 for best animated feature film, Julianne Moore who won actress in a leading role, and Birdman that won the oscar for best picture. Lord knows where we'd be without films and the effort that goes into them.
Note to self: I really need to make an Oscar award out of legos.
